HGLR1 Fluxgate Magnetometer Gradiometer
Designed for field based applications where challenging near-surface topography restricts the use of flown magnetometry systems by drone or light aircraft, the HGLR1 developed in-house by Lithothermal Resources is a low-cost and fully interactive game-changer. It uses two FG-3+ fluxgate sensors with a low noise floor and sub +/- 0.2 nanoteslas sensitivity. A Raspberry Pi acts as the data logger from an analogue-to-digital converter, also hosting the bespoke software for real-time analysis, sensor calibration, GPS and GIS (for planning and walking routes) which are all integrated using a 7-inch touch screen display. The data can be processed quickly with in-house software to edit tracks, thresholds and filtering immediately after acquisition. The system is weatherproof, lightweight (under 5 kg) and has an internal lithium battery allowing for five hours of continuous field measurements that can be supplemented by a power pack providing an additional ten hours recording. Successful field trials makes it ideal to map out features of limited width (sub 5 metres), such as mineralised veins, igneous dykes and alteration zones at very high resolution.
